Reservoir protection and well completion technology for multi-branch horizontal wells in coalbed methane

Coal reservoirs have characteristically low permeability and pressure are highly sensitive to damage during well completion. Therefore, systematic reservoir protection measures must be taken in the process of coalbed methane exploitation. However, some areas such as Qinshui basin, there is a contradiction between sidewall stability horizontal (CBM) wells coal seams, which becomes main technical bottleneck for efficient development CBM. double-pipe double-cycle rock carrying technology based on using clean water drilling fluid proposed, can applied multi-branch CBM, improve completion efficiency quality, realize protection, increase single-well production. Field tests this been completed ZS1P-5H QS12P1H with satisfactory results. For example, was drilled one branch, 15 branches, 33 pulse branches. The total depth 13,270 m, pure 10,288 m. A single 10 km footage realized without accidents, daily gas output up 10,000 m3.
